HECLab.com is the site of the Heath/Environment/Communities Research lab lead by Dr. Heather Castleden. The site serves primarily to showcase Dr. Castleden’s research and network, and is an effective tool for recruiting new students to the HEC Lab. The site also features the work of lab students and participants, and includes profiles of members who enter and graduate from the program.
The design centres on bold colours, and the site features a number of different page templates for a variety of content that includes text, images, and multimedia. The design process was made much better by access to an array of beautiful photographs provided by Heather, many of which were taken by a student of hers, Jon Aarssen. These high-resolution, beautiful photos really make the site pop, and they were a pleasure to work with.
